“Part of my joy in learning is that it puts me in a position to teach; nothing, however outstanding and however hopeful, will ever give me any pleasure if the knowledge is to be for my benefit alone.”

Hello and welcome!

A little about myself, from a young age I have always had an interest in certain subjects that were different from the rest of my friends. Specifically: philosophy, politics, political-philosophy, history, economics, strategy, war, seduction, power, martial arts, masculinity and spirituality.

Growing up in the SF Bay Area, I noticed that I was different and stuck out from the general daily life of my city because of these interests. I was more bookish and cerebral than others. Of course that didn’t stop me from learning as much as I could get my hands on. Because of this and where I grew up, I gained two educations; street smarts and book smarts. It’s interesting how they both feed and connect into each other.

Growing up, I would use and apply what I learned to see what worked and what didn’t in order to improve myself and have a greater understanding. I have been doing that ever since. Once I reached college, I searched for a blog or blogs that would talk about these subjects and the connections between them. I found a few, some better than others, but overall always left me hungry for something more.

So I started this blog to help me on my journey of self-education and self-improvement. I do it all in a thoughtful and practical way. No feel good bullshit or follow your passion type nonsense that my generation seems to follow dogmatically. I prefer more rational thought.

On the one hand, I have my interests, on the other, I want to find out how should one live? How can one attain wisdom? What is the best form of government? What ethics should we follow or should we create a whole new set? All in the greater purpose of learning to live and die well, the attainment of wisdom and understanding of the world.

This site serves a few purposes:

  • 1) It allows me to put forth my ideas and reflections on a variety of subjects. I’m interested in creating something useful and practical.
  • 2) To help guide others on their own journey towards self-development and wisdom; if you can apply to your life what I learn then all the better.
  • 3) To awaken you from your dogmatic slumbers into intellectual curiosity.

As of now, I recently graduated and have more time to write and think on these subjects. I’ll try to put out an article a week or more if I have the time given the constraints of the day. I make no promises though. Although I am getting this blog off the ground, I will slowly start to refine it as I move forward.
